LJY-Netzer's Biggest Ever Spring Camp

Over 80 young people aged 7 – 15 had a raucous time at LJY-Netzer’s biggest ever spring camp – Machaneh Aviv – at the Hogwarts style Cottesmore School in West Sussex from 2nd – 7th April.

Highlights included a very spiritual evening service in the swimming pool, featuring floating candles. The Shabbat service featured the voices of over 100 people singing together, enjoying a meaningful connection to Judaism.

There was also an on-site social action theme, raising awareness about learning difficulties and the work of Ravenswood, the residential village where the movement recently ran a seder. Camp participants wrote cards to residents and learnt about the work of the charity.

LJY-Netzer movement worker Sam Cohen said: “Machaneh Aviv was another life-changing experience for a huge number of young Liberal Jews from all over the country. Camp is not only fun for the participants, but also provides unparalleled leadership training for the young people who volunteer as madrichim. We’re now looking forward to another huge Machaneh Kadimah (summer camp). Our events are open to all”
