Liberal Judaism National Officer Becomes JLC Vice President

February 13 2013

Liberal Judaism is delighted that one of its national officers – former Labour MP Gillian Merron – has been elected a vice president of the Jewish Leadership Council. Merron, who spent time on a kibbutz as a student, was involved with Labour Friends of Israel and The Holocaust Education Trust while serving in Parliament. She also has a long-standing commitment to volunteering, and to improving public health provision across Europe.

Commenting on her appointment, Merron said: “I am delighted and honoured to become a Vice-President of the Jewish Leadership Council. I look forward to making my contribution to further strengthening the impact and voice of organisations across the Jewish community.”

The Jewish Leadership Council (JLC) is made up of the heads of major Jewish community organisations, and considers itself to be “the “industry body” for Jewish community organisations and institutions.” Liberal Judaism’s chairman, Lucian J. Hudson, serves on its Council of Membership.
