A taste of life ‘On Campus’ |
5th November 2012 The Liberal and Reform Jewish youth movements teamed up this weekend to give potential students a taste of what Progressive Jewish life at university is like.
Taking place at Cambridge University, which has a thriving egalitarian Jewish scene and a very active Jewish Society, the weekend included activities such as programmes exploring different ways of expressing ones Judaism on campus, Kabbalat Shabbat service with the Egalitarian Minyan and a scavenger hunt through the city. Offering advice on student life at all universities, not just Cambridge, the event was a joint venture between the Reform and Liberal youth movements (LJY-Netzer and RSY-Netzer) and student organisations (Jeneration and LJ Students). LJY-Netzer movement worker Robin Cooke, one of the ‘On Campus’ organisers, said: “LJY-Netzer’s first On Campus weekend was a great success, with a combined twenty-eight participants joining together to pray, learn and experience university life first-hand. We look forward to running more similar events in the near future – watch this space!” For more information on future LJY-Netzer events go to www.ljy-netzer.org |
